There are plenty of ways to get around Bali. Whether by foot, car or motorbike, here are our tips on the more popular options for transportation in Bali:
Private Car with Driver
You can find them anywhere, especially at the airport. For a fixed price of IDR 150,000, they’ll take you to Seminyak, Kuta, Sanur and Canggu. Save the driver’s telephone number to get him take you around during your stay. There are many drivers advertising their services online too, especially on Facebook! This is a fantastic transportation option to get around Bali, especially for families as the driver will work according to your schedule and your budget.
Taxi
These guys need no introduction; they are everywhere. Simply flag one down and hop in! While there are many who don’t use the meter, you could always negotiate the price before you start your trip. A trip from Seminyak to Kuta would usually set you back IDR 100,000. Be prepared to negotiate with almost every taxi you flag down!
Grab / Go-Jek
This is an increasingly popular transportation option in Bali, thanks to its super easy-to-use phone application. There’s no need for bargaining here; once you’ve entered your destination on your screen, you’ll see the price along with the driver’s name and make of car. Choose a car or a motorbike, tap “Order Now” and you’re all set to go! Do practice caution though, you can’t order one at the airport and in some other select places in South Bali.
Bemo / Public Bus
The Bemo was a popular option way back when, but today, you won’t be able to find one in the bustling tourist areas any longer. They are still available in the more rural areas and villages if you’re ever out in that direction.
Rent your own Car / Scooter
If you’re not intimidated by Bali’s crazy and chaotic traffic, then this is the way to go. Parking for cars is a nightmare though, which is why most people just hire a car with a driver while in Bali.
The Colony Hotel Bali also provides pick up and drop off services for its guests. A private car and driver can also be arranged.
