When it comes to food, Indonesia holds a huge percentage of the world’s recipe. The spice-rich archipelago has been the envy of many European traders, and now in the 21st century, the menu just got a lot bigger and more complex.
If you want to try the latest developments of Indonesian food, where traditional flavours meet modern culinary techniques, you must check out these Indonesian restaurants in Seminyak.
Bambu Restaurant
If you have ever eaten at one of Bali’s best beachside restaurant, La Lucciola Bali, then you will definitely love Bambu Restaurant. The creators of this Italian restaurant has brought the same culinary magic into its Indonesian cousin, Bambu Restaurant.
The chefs of Bambu Restaurant delivers an evolved version of what has been cooked by millions of homecooks in the country: chicken and prawn satay, but with the chicken grilled to perfection, pampered with fresh chili sauce of a dozen flavours from handpicked local ingredients.
Address: Jl. Petitenget No.198, Kerobokan Kelod
Opening hours: 6:30 – 22:30

Merah Putih
If this restaurant is a person, we could describe him as an Indonesian student who has travelled to France in pursuit of culinary knowledge, who fell in love with a Parisian, and went back home to have a child together. Merah Putih encourages diners to play with vivid imagination as they follow through the genuinely Indonesian course.
The course is divided into two sections: traditional and modern. You get to taste a great selection of Indonesian cuisine as originally designed by the ancient grandmothers of the populace. When you feel the inspiration to try something new, order an innovative, imaginative, out-the-box dish that asserts how unbelievably artistic the restaurant is.
Address: Jl. Petitenget No.100X, Kerobokan Kelod
Opening hours: Daily, 12:00 – 15:00 and 18:00 – late

Warung Sulawesi
Unlike the previous two restaurants, Warung Sulawesi is simple, casual, and homey. Staying true to the name, this warung brings the signature flavours of all the cuisine from the island far north. Indulge in ayam rica-rica, spicy chicken with fragant herbs, stewed and braised.
Try the black squid that is bathed in its own ink. The warung also serves other classics such as the all-time favourite beef rendang, and for the tender palate, there are a great variety of meat and vegetarian options that are not so spicy.
